John Reuben Nickelson, age 92, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022. John was born June 19, 1929. He lived through the depression in his younger days and was a pool hustler as a teenager. John was always an avid story teller. John was the mayor of Hutchinson for one term but was mostly an entrepreneur. He had worked in oil refineries, landscaping and at Phillips 66.
He is preceded in death by wife Neola; son Eric; daughter Christy.
John is survived by son Craig Nickelson; grandsons Cobey Eugene Smith and Jason Nichalous (Nick) Smith and his wife Nina; four greatgrandchildren, Tristin Smith, Kara Smith, Sean Smith and Jaycen Smith.
Visitation will be held 12-1pm Thursday, March 17th with Funeral Service at 1pm at Resthaven Mortuary with burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
