Jose Alfonzo Maland Sambrano, beloved husband, father, son, and brother, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 48. Born on August 1,1976, in Utah, Jose touched the lives of many with his tenacious determination and passionate personality.
Throughout his life, Jose (affectionately known to many as Alfonzo), was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left avoid in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him, but he left a little piece of his heart with each of us. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Jose's life was marked by his dedication to his family and his community. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Sambrano, and his brother, David Candia, both of whom he held dearly in his heart.
His memory will forever be cherished by his loving wife, Rachel Sambrano, his precious children: Jocelyn Sambrano, Alicia Sambrano, Andrew Martinez, Christian Spencer, Nathan Martinez, Lyrik Hight, Ariah Sambrano, Janiah Sambrano, and Jose Sambrano Jr., his 8 grandchildren, parents, Debra Candia and Jesse Candia, siblings, Christopher Mueller, Ernestina Sambrano, Frances Sambrano, Jessica Candia, Christina Reed, Andrew Candia, Sheiza Sexton, and Henry Herrford. 21 Aunts and Uncles, 73 cousins and 26 nieces and nephews.
Jose was not only a devoted family man, but He also had passion in his heart to care for people like no other. He was always there to help out. When he truly surrendered his life to Jesus, his whole life radically changed, and that heart of compassion magnified. He embarked on a mission to spread the message of the gospel through connection, compassion and hope. In 2020 He met his wife Rachel in a prayer tent for a Unite our City event. Little did he know his whole life would change drastically and their ministry would truly begin. That's when two hearts for Jesus merged into one mission for Christ and The Body Of Christ ICT was birthed. For nearly five years, Jose has impacted lives through his personal life, ministry, and handyman work like never before. Also, as Vice Chair of Team Justice, he served at-risk youth, grieving families, and incarcerated individuals, helping transform lives. His moto was always, “Lives Changed, Souls Saved”.
The ministry, The Body of Christ ICT, extends globally, partnering to spread the gospel. His faith, family, and desire to serve exemplified his joyful, generous spirit. Outside of his missionary work, Jose cherished every moment spent with his family. His kids meant everything to him, and his deepest hope was that each of them would come to truly know the Lord, love Him with all their heart, and wholeheartedly walk in the extraordinary calling He had for each of their lives.
Those who knew Jose will remember him for his charismatic personality, can-do-attitude and overwhelming love for Christ. His deep-rooted faith in Jesus, and his unshaken
commitment to preaching the gospel fueled his fire. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.
