Kevin Charles Pywell, age 58 of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home on April 17, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 30, 1963 to Rose (Sparks) Pywell and Charles "Corky" Pywell.
Kevin graduated from Plainville High School in 1981 then furthered his education at Wichita State University. He married, Michelle West, and to this union, one son was born: Phog Allen Charles Pywell. They later divorced. Kevin kept himself busy working many different jobs. His last job was working to deliver information regarding COVID tests to people and industries. Kevin enjoyed reading. He read every Stephen King book, enjoyed reading westerns from Louis Lamour, and enjoyed rereading the classics. Kevin loved to cook more than anything, and would often cook for every holiday. He would often share recipes with his son Phog whenever he found one that sounded good. Kevin would have his son help him whenever he really wanted to try something new. He loved to tell corny “dad jokes”, Chiefs football, Royals baseball, and KU basketball. Kevin loved KU enough, that he named his only son, Phog Allen! Kevin was extremely proud of Phog and his wife and their schooling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Reggie Pywell; and grandparents, Daisy & Albert Sparks and Fern & Cecil Pywell. Kevin is survived by his son, Phog (Linda) Pywell of Wichita; brothers, Rick Pywell of Plainville and Terry (Denise) Pywell of Wichita; sisters, Cherie (Lynn) Houser and Lisa (Brian) Moos both of Plainville, Vicky (Bill) Haselwood of Cherryvale and Pam (Rob) Meyer of Waukesha, WI; 14 nieces & nephews; and 15 great nieces and nephews, with another on the way.
