Lawrence Peters

Lawrence Eugene Peters passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the age of 72, in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on July 16, 1953, in Garden City Kansas to Boniface and Rosa Peters.

Lawrence graduated from Garden City High School and went on to join the Army in September of 1972. He was stationed in Germany for a while, and he loved to tell stories of his experiences there. He received the National Defense Medal and Sharpshooting Award. He left the army in August of 1978. Later he joined the American Legion Andover Chapter # 406.

Lawrence met Sue Ann Peters and was married to her for 46 wonderful years. After her passing he made a new connection with a companion named Beverly Fedrick, where they shared three amazing years of friendship and love.

Lawrence loved his job at Beech Aircraft. He saw it go through many name changes, but it was always Beech to him for the 40 years he was there.

Lawrence loved playing cards, going to car races on Saturday nights and going to afternoon movies. He treasured his involvement with the Westside United Methodist Church, and he was very proud to be the head usher for so many years.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Boniface and Rosa Peters and siblings, Robb Peters and Kate Butler.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Chris) Matson; grandchildren, William (Brandy) Poyner, Victoria (Kegan) Poyner and Fiancé, Beverly Fredrick.

A visitation will be held at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Hwy 54, Wichita, Kansas, 67209, on August 21, 2025, from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM. A memorial service will be on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Westside United Methodist Church, 1313 W. Lydia, Wichita, Kansas at 10:00 AM followed by a celebration of life at Andover Senior Center, 418 N. Lioba, Andover, Kansas starting at 1:00 PM with a military flag ceremony at 1:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family has established a memorial fund with Harry Hynes Hospice, 313 S Market St, Wichita, Kansas 67202.
