Leandra Sheri Reed, 38, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, surrounded by those who loved her most. Born in Wichita on September 23, 1986, Leandra lived a life marked by devotion to family and service to her country.
A proud graduate of Campus High School, Leandra went on to serve in the United States Army from 2005 to 2007. She worked with dignity and compassion in Mortuary Affairs and deployed to Iraq, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Army Service Ribbon and the Global War on Terrorism Medal.
Leandra was quite the character—vivid, sassy, and full of spark. Everyone who knew her had their own special name for her: Daughter, Mom, Sis, Aunt Wieena, Cous, Strawberry, Sweet Cheeks, Toots, Nanner, and Mo. Just to name a few, each one a reflection of the unique bond they shared with her. With her radiant beauty, sharp humor, and a legendary stubborn streak, she left an impression that will never fade. But more than anything, Leandra had heart.
Leandra was a loving mother to her daughter, Mackenzie Raelyn Reed and son, Jaxon Blake Burleigh. Her heart overflowed with affection for her family. She is survived by her children; father, John Wesley Reed; stepfather, Larry Behrens; brothers John Reed (Abby), David Reed (Raquel), and Nicholas Behrens, as well as 4 nieces and 7 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Terry Arlene Behrens Murray.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to a charity of your choice in Leandra’s name—a gesture as generous as the life she lived.
