Dear Family,   The service this morning was beautiful.    Like Caren said Madeline would of lived it.   
            Madeline loved her family  and spoke of all of you often.
We all have good  fun memories of Greg & Madeline.   They will never be forgotten

Madeline was a very crafty and caring person who loved telling stories. She was was very short and wore tiny shoes that I remember surpassing her size in grade school. If you knew my grandpa Dye you knew how she often had to keep his ornery self in check. Underestimating Madeline because of her size was definitely a mistake, tiny but mighty was a very good way of putting it. When provoked she could instantly transform into a fierce and strong-willed woman not to be messed with.

Madeline had some pretty interesting skills and could sew up a dress, make an intricate quilt or reupholster anything that was stitched with the utmost skill. I was always amazed at the many tools she had and enjoyed sneaking in her workshop to see her in progress projects and get to see what furniture looked like from the inside. She took time teaching me how to sew and quilt, and into adulthood she gave my wife tips to help in our reupholstering and sewing projects. I have many handmade gifts that she made for me and her grandkids that she spent countless hours on including pillows, scarves, embroidered towels etc. 

I could always count on Madeline to be at all of my milestones in my life, including school programs, birthday parties and hosting holidays at her house or grandpas and more. Although her and grandpa were not married and she was not my biological grandma she was definitely our honorary grandma. Madeline was selfless in so many ways, she put others in her life first even if they didn’t have full appreciation for her time and effort.  

I’m incredibly sad I didn’t know she sick. I hope she knows how much I appreciated having her in my life and how much I loved her. I wish I could have been there for her like she had been for me all those years. She was a loving grandma who accepted me for the person I became.

Holidays will be especially hard without Madeline and Grandpa. She did her best to keep grandpa's memory alive and to bring the family together.
