

Manickam, Manoranjitham “Mano”, 86, of Wichita, KS passed away peacefully on October 14, 2014. Mano was born in Megnanapuram, South India in 1928 the daughter of Jebamoni and Ponnammal Gnanamalai. Mano and James Theodore Paul Manickam were united in marriage on Jan. 3, 1951 in Thirumariyur, South India. Together they celebrated 27 years of marriage before his passing in 1978. Both Mano and Paul served as missionaries in Thailand sent by the Church of South India starting in 1959. During her extensive service for the church she worked as teacher, dorm mother, business manager, preacher, counselor, and mentor for young Christians. In her later retirement years she continued her ministry with her translation work and service among Asian churches in the United States. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, her daughter Dorothy, brother Thangapandy and sister Eben. Survivors include 5 children, 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 1 brother and 1 sister. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17 from 6 - 9pm. Funeral services for Mano will be held at 2pm on Saturday, October 18 both at Lakeview Memorial Chapel, 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita, Kansas. Memorials have been established in her name and loving memory with the “Lamp of Thailand” (Bible Correspondence Course of The Church of Christ in Thailand, founded by her late husband), c/o of Lakeview Funeral Home.
