Margaret R. Kessler, 97, on May 23, 2018 Margaret’s close friend and Savior, gently took his faithful servant home. We miss our mother, but are comforted in knowing she is in the open arms of the Lord and all those that have gone before. Margaret was born to Reinhard “Riney” and Mary (Patry) Hay in Wichita. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome “June”; sons, Audrey and David; and daughter, Karla Davison; 2 brothers and 2 sisters including her twin sister Mary. She is survived and missed by daughters, Kay Goodknight, Joyce Dolbow and son, Russell Kessler. Margaret was blessed with a large family of 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Until the very end, Margaret was able to fully participate in their life celebrations. Margaret was a light to us all with her quiet example of Christian faith. She was a “church lady” and rarely missed Mass in her home parish of St. Francis of Assisi, a church she and her husband were founding members. Her greatest quality was her kind acceptance of people. Forgiving was easy for her and she never doubted God’s great plan. Margaret loved being a mother and raising her family was her greatest joy, but later found working at the local Dillions store fulfilling. Working in the bakery, she was a popular early morning fixture in the donut department. For the past five years, Margaret enjoyed her friends at Reflection Ridge Retirement Center as they became very close and gave her much pleasure. Rosary on Monday at 7 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday both at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to: St. Francis of Assisi Church (to support high school education at BCCHS) at 861 N. Socora, Wichita, Ks. 67212 or David L.
