She graduated from Anthony High School then she went on to to attend Beauty School in Wichita. She married Richard Dewey in 1951 and to this union were born two children - A daughter, Debbie and son Mark. Mary spent her professional career working as a hairdresser for a short time before becoming a secretary for Ralston Purina, and then as a bookkeeper for Range Oil. Mary was an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She had three things that were most important to her: God, her family and The Kansas City Chiefs and I'm not sure the order on those last two.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, a brother and her husband.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Anderson; her son son, Mark and wife Tammy; 4 grandchildren: Candace (Vince), Gavin (Jaclyn) , JD (Betsy) and Cori, as well at 14 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Mary will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 7901 W 21st St N, Wichita, KS 67205 with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 AM. A graveside service will occur Thursday, August 21, 2025 following the service at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary's memory may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 7901 W 21st St, Wichita, Kansas 67205.
