

Mary Kathryn Scott, affectionately known as “Kay,” passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, in Andover, Kansas, at the age of 87, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Fort Scott, Kansas, on September 13, 1937, Mary was the daughter of Arvy Ray Simons and Eleanore Mae (Wilson) Simons. She grew up in a close-knit family and carried the values of compassion, resilience, and dedication throughout her life.
On February 6, 1956, Kay married the love of her life, Jerry Lee Scott, in Houston, Texas. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love, and they shared many cherished memories until Jerry’s passing.
Kay dedicated 12 years of her life as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Wesley Hospital, where her gentle spirit and caring nature touched countless lives. She also worked at Beech Aircraft. Her work ethic and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Arvy and Eleanore Simons; five siblings; her husband, Jerry
Lee Scott; her son, Asa Ray Scott; and her dog, Bogey, who brought her great joy.
Family was the heart of Kay’s world. She is survived by her daughters, Carrie Scott and Shawna (Mark) Davoren; grandchildren, Scott (Makayla) Womack, Billy Womack (Emily Otte), and Sam Davoren; great-grandchildren, Raylee, Brycen, and Winona; as well as many extended family members and friends.
She will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the stories shared, the lives she touched, and the memories held dear by those who knew her.

A private family only service will be held for Kay.
