Atkins, Melvin D., 75, Business owner of Tanglewood Signs, passed away on April 27, 2017. He was a hard worker and had owned several steel businesses throughout his life. His creative work can be seen around town in the several signs he built, as well as the Pampas Outback exhibit at the Sedgwick County Zoo. Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, of 42 years, Annette and his parents, Gilbert and Eula Atkins. He is survived by his son, Greg (Ann) Atkins, and sister, Sandra (Dennis) Turner; grandchildren, Lindsey (Mike) Clark, Amanda Atkins (Bryan Johnson); great-grandchildren, Riley and Regan Clark. There will be a funeral service 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017, with a visitation one hour prior, both at Resthaven Mortuary Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Kansas Humane Society.
