

Memphis Stanley Hixson, 90, passed away on November 5, 2022, of natural causes. He was born September 7, 1932 in Shattuck, Oklahoma, the only child of Herman Hixson and Myrtle (McLeaird) Hixson of Arnett, Oklahoma. A child of humble beginnings, he helped his parents on their small farm. He graduated from Arnett High School in 1950--riding a horse to school. Then, facilitating his own higher education, he attended Oklahoma Agriculture and Mechanics (Oklahoma A & M College), graduating in 1955. He earned both BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from OSU. He was a Draftsman at Haliburton Oil of Duncan, Ok and a Design Engineer at Corvair Division of General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Tx. He completed his career with 30 years as a Design Engineer at Boeing Airplane Company, Wichita Division, retiring in 1991. Coinciding with his full-time career, he and his wife owned, managed and maintained multiple residential rental properties in Wichita, spanning more than 20 years. It was a family venture.
He married Janice Baldwin of Oklahoma City in 1962. Shortly after, they purchased their home in Wichita and raised their family. He passed away in the same home with Janice by his side.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Janice (Baldwin) Hixson, are his daughters; Cindy Hixson of Wichita, Carol (Hixson) Alley and her husband Paul Alley of Overland Park, KS and Sherry (Hixson) Danner of Longmont, CO; two granddaughters; Julia Alley of Olathe, KS and Amelia Alley of Olathe, KS.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church and also attended Calvary Methodist Church, both in Wichita.
A service of remembrance will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home located at 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita, KS 67206 on Saturday, November 12th, 2022 at 1:00pm.
