Merle Edwin Yockey

Merle Edwin Yockey, age 91, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025. Merle was born in Williamsburg Kansas to Wilbur Arthur and Lillie Pearl Yockey on February 9, 1933. He graduated from Waverly High School in 1951. Merle joined the Army and served from 1953 to 1955. He later married Marilyn Ann Korbe.

Merle is preceded in death by his parents, loving wife, and daughter Linda Yockey Desmarteau Hedges, Brothers Harold and Willard Yockey, and Sisters Ruby Pyle and Berniece Baker. He is survived by his children Joyce (Rick) Sanchez, Mike (Pam) Yockey, Julie (Paul) Moutray, Jeff (Linda-Deceased) Hedges, 9 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren.

A Recitation of Holy Rosary will take place at 10 AM on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church located at 2701 S. Pattie St., Wichita, KS 67216. Burial and Final Resting Place will be at Hill Crest Cemetery located at 10102 E 95th St. S., Derby, KS 67037.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to be made to St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church at 2701 S Pattie St, Wichita, KS 67216.
