

Blackwood, Mildred M. Duff 87, Passed away April 28, 2014 in Louisville, KY. A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she spent a lifetime dedicated to her family and in service to others. She was born June 19, 1926 near Lyndon, Kansas, graduated from Lyndon High School. She attended Sterling College where she met her husband, Wallace B. Blackwood. They were married June 29, 1948. She spent much of her life raising her family in Wichita and worked as a registrar at Pleasant Valley Junior High. She served the Lord as a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. Our Mom was the rock of the family and supported us on all of our crazy adventures. She is survived by her sisters Barbara (Elmer) Tournquist, Hot Springs, AR; Velma (Glenn) Bauck, Vassar, KS; Betty (Tommy) Lewis, Garnett, KS; her four children Ken (Michelle), Homewood, AL; Larry(Connie), Bozeman, MT; Kathy (Michael) Madryga, Goshen, KY; Randy (Cheri), Edmond, OK, as well as 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grand child: Jessi (Brett) Miller, Frankfort, KY; Matt (Rachel) Blackwood, Northport, AL; Dan Madryga, Louisville, KY; Tracy Madryga, Louisville, KY; Amanda (Joe) Clement, Worcester, MA; Katelynn (Steve) Baker, Edmond, OK. Preceded in death by her husband, Wallace and sister, Lela. Memorial service will be 3:00 pm Friday, May 2 at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Botanical Gardens of Wichita.
