He was born on March 30, 1960 in San Francisco and relocated to the east coast after serving in the army and marines, and self-educating in the internet web development field. He worked for several years in Manhattan, developing and maintaining websites for pharmaceutical companies.
He is survived by two sisters, one half-sister and one half-brother, his first wife Neena Deibler and their son Brian Burkhardt, and his current wife Lyse Garant and their daughter Natalie Burkhardt.
Mitch loved surfing as a young man, excelled in track and long-distance running, enjoyed free hand drawing. Mitch was a peace loving, friendly, handsome man who loved his children. He worked hard and played harder. He was known among friends to be easy going with a great sense of humor. After retiring, he enjoyed watching movies and relaxing on his sun-soaked balcony.
