Kathy and her husband Junior, also lovingly known as "Mema and Papa," were married on September 5, 1949 and moved to Wichita, KS from Sallisaw, Oklahoma. They were married for 74 years.
Following the birth of their two boys, Kathy devoted her time as a loving mother and wife. Eventually, she went to work for USD 259 where she was a para for over 30 years. She was especially loved by all of her students and co-workers. She loved gambling at the casino, singing to Alan Jackson, shopping at Dollar Tree, playing cards with friends and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Byrd Randolph; husband, Junior McClendon; son, Merle McClendon; brother, DeWayne Randolph; and sister, Shirley (Dee) Hayes.
Kathy is survived by her son, Larry (Christa) McClendon; daughter-in-law, Barbie McClendon; grandchildren, Nick McClendon, Davis (Jelciane) McClendon, Sarah McClendon, Jason (Hollie) McClendon, and Megan McClendon; great grandchildren Jake, Emma, Austin, and Halia; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life Service for Kathy will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, April 1st, 2024, with visitation one hour prior, at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 East 13th Street North.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Kathy's memory may be made to Larry Baker Memorial - benefitting youth sports, C/O Citizens Bank of Kansas, 1033 North Buckner, Derby, Kansas 67037.
