

Norma L. Malone Gastineau Hawkins Kuhnel, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, following a brief illness. She was born in Ellinwood, Kansas, October 15, 1926, to Victor and Pauline Malone. She lived most of her life in Wichita, Kan., and was married to her sweetheart, Eldon Kuhnel, for over 22 years. Norma raised her children for many years as a single mother, owning a Dairy Queen in Kingman, Kan. Her laughter and smile will be missed greatly. She married Ellis Robert Gastineau in Ellinwood, Kan., and had four children: Gary Gastineau (Round Rock, TX.), Michele McCammon (Wichita, Kan.), Craig Gastineau (Wichita, Kan.), Nancy Lay (Urbandale, Iowa). Norma was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Robert Gastineau and Joseph Hawkins, as well as her beloved son, Gary Gastineau, grandson Kirk Audley, grandson Jeffery Voth, brother Art Malone, sisters Patricia Rastrelli and Mary Barnett. She had nine grandchildren who adored her: Lisa Jones (Lawrence, Kan.), Todd Voth (Owasso, Okla.), Jeffery Gastineau, (Buchanan Dam, TX.), Jennifer Gastineau-Benjamin (Round Rock, TX.), Kimberly Wessley (Wichita, Kan.), Derrick Gastineau (Wichita, Kan.), Ryan Lay and Taylor Lay (Urbandale, Iowa.) and Chase McCammon (Wichita, Kan.). She had 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Bobbi Green (Phoenix, AZ.), and Betty Long (Silver Springs, MD.), as well as stepchildren David Kuhnel (Lincoln, Neb.), Alan Kuhnel (Kearney, Mo.), Diane Kuhnel (Kansas City, Mo.) and Donna Jordan (Flower Mound, TX.). Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 3, 2016, at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wichita, Kan. Visitation one hour prior to funeral service. Interment following at Resurrection Cemetery in Wichita, Kan.
