

Sgt. Patrick Henry Featherby, retired, left our lives way too soon on Dec. 19 2014 at the age of 44. Patrick is survived by, his parents Junior and Becky Garrett of Mulvane, KS, Henry and Sara Featherby of Haysville, KS, his children Payton Sawyer-Featherby of S. Carolina, Aidan, Liam and Sloane with their mother Tanner Scanlon-Featherby all of Wichita, his sisters Kathy Walsh of Louisville, KS and Lori Featherby of Chicago, IL, his younger brother James Featherby also of Haysville, KS, step siblings, Junior Logan of N. Carolina, Robin Logan Moore of Wellington, KS, and Jeannie Logan of Wellington, KS. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and loved ones. After 9/11 Patrick decided it was time to serve his country and help fight the war on terror. He joined the Kansas Army National Guard and after his basic training was assigned to the 714th Maintenance Company. He was shipped overseas to fight in Mosul, Iraq from 9/2006-9/2007. He is a decorated soldier and received many commendations for his bravery and valor. He is a 3 time Purple Heart Recipient, a Bronze Star with Valor, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Ribbon. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 from 12-5 P.M. at Resthaven Mortuary on West Kellogg. Memorial services will be held on Monday, Dec. 29 2014 at 3:00 P.M., also at Resthaven. Memorials may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Initiative in Pats honor.
