

Paula was born in Beech Grove, IN., on December 4, 1952, the eldest of Carol and Fred Doss. She attended elementary school in Louisiana and Joplin, MO, before the family moved to Pittsburg, KS, where she attended Lakeside Junior High and Pittsburg High School. She furthered her education receiving a B.A. (Humanities) at Arizona State University, a M.A.(Art History) at the University of Southern California, and later her law degree, J.D., at the USC Gould School of Law.
She built her life in Los Angeles, CA, working as the Curator/Associate Director of the Hammer Museum and Cultural Center for many years. She met the love of her life, David Berry, during a law internship interview. They were married on September 2, 1989 and remained so until his death on October 3, 2022. Paula traveled throughout Europe extensively with the museum and later, after retiring, she and David continued to explore further their shared love of international travel. Her additional interests included attending live sports events with David, including the World Series, the US Open, Wimbledon, NBA games, and many others. She also championed environmental and animal causes.
Paula is survived by her sister, Carla Doss (Mike), Wichita; brother, Thane Doss (Akiko), Tokyo; and beloved cats, MJ and Athena. She was preceded in death by her husband, David, mother, Carol Ann Doss, and father, Fred Doss.
