

Endsley, Richard Eugene “Dick”, 87, of Wichita, KS passed away Mon. Dec. 28, 2015 at home with family in Wichita. Richard was born on Dec. 10, 1928 in Copeland, KS the son of Warren and Mary Jane (Ward) Endsley. Richard and Nell Endsley were united in marriage on June 20, 1958 in Douglass, KS. Together they celebrated 57 years of marriage. Richard graduated from Copeland High School in 1946 where he excelled in football and basketball. He was offered a scholarship in both sports to Garden City Community College where he attended until 1948, and later graduating from Wichita State receiving a BS in Business Administration in 1950. Richard then served for the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 - 1953. He then returned to Copeland to help with the family business for two years before returning to Wichita. In 1955, he began his career as a salesman with A.Y. McDonald until 1969 when he transitioned to Crane Supply, where he became an award winning salesmen, which later became Hajoca, until his retirement in March of 1993. Richard was known to be very dedicated to his work, traveling each week, and many times going the extra mile to make sure it was right. He enjoyed taking care of his family pets, going on vacations, caring for his family and extended family. Dick and Nell attended many MLB baseball games and traveling to many states in search of family history. Richard took many family photos and 8mm movies, some of which you’re watching today (at the service). After retirement he enjoyed many mornings of reading the newspaper. He will always be remembered for his love and gentle ways. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Earl “Pete” Endsley, sister-in law, Hazel (Endsley) Baker. Survivors include his loving wife, Nell (Held) Endsley, children, Janell Enderson of Kansas City, MO and her daughter Rachel, Rick (Kathleen) Endsley of Wichita and their children Wesley, Mckenzie, Emilee, Christopher and Mary Margaret, Shelley (Steve) Killinger of Topeka and their sons Samuel and Austin, great-grandson, John Patrick, special cousins, nieces, nephews and great great-great-nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sat. Jan. 2, 2015 from 12 to 2pm with funeral services following at 2pm both at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Wichita. Memorials can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675, Kansas Humane Society or Interim Hospice of Wichita.
