

He was born in Wichita on September 8, 1936, to parents Jack P. Foster and Lois Trenary Foster. The oldest of four, he is preceded in death by his sisters Patricia Newman, Jackie Smitherman, and survived by his youngest sister Lois Mainz.
Bob is preceded in death by his sons Robert (Casey) Foster II, and Jeffrey Jack Foster. Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years, Deborah Doreen Foster, his daughters Janet McLaren, Becky Miller (Brent), and Debby McDonald (Mark).
He loved spending time with his grandchildren, Brandon McLaren (Carie), Bryce McLaren (Destiny), Jason Fry (Joy), Elizabeth Connolly (Dan), Jamie McDonald (Nikki), and Katherine Wilborn; his great grand-children Lillian Fry, Isabel Fry, Liam McLaren, Abigail McLaren, Sumer Wilborn, Kasey Johnson, and Claire Connelly. He was loved by many nephews and nieces.
Bob spent his early years growing in Arkansas, and also lived in Topeka and Wichita. He attended Kansas State University, where he was on the wrestling team. He worked for his father, first at Belger Cartage Service, then Jack P. Foster Erectors. As an ironworker, he worked at buildings across the state and region. He started his own company, The Rigging Loft, and continued to work there after retiring from iron work.
Bob was a member of Sunflower Masonic Lodge for over fifty years, as well as a member of the Order of Eastern Star. He loved nature and would hunt in his younger years, but his favorite pastime was fishing. He loved the Lord, art, architecture, Kansas history, crosswords and jigsaw puzzles, and of course cats. Bob had a big heart. He would help anyone whenever possible, and he often did. Nothing was more important to him than family. He provided a good life for his family, and lived it well. He was a man of wisdom who loved to laugh and be around people. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held at Resthaven Mortuary, located at 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209, on December 27, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
The funeral service will follow at the same location, starting at 1:00 pm.
A committal service will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209, on December 27, 2025.
