Robert Boyd Steckley, age 78, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. He was born November 7, 1946, in New Brunswick, New Jersey to Leon Robert Steckley and Pauline Evelyn (Schmidt) Steckley.
After attending Wichita State University, he enlisted in The United States Army and served in Germany. He graduated with a Masters from the University of Louisville in Kentucky. Following graduation, Robert's profession was as a Psychological Social Worker for the State of Kentucky.
Throughout his life, he remained an avid fan of the WSU Women's Volleyball team and other hobbies he began young alongside his father and brother, Richard, included woodworking, hunting and horticulture.
He loved music so much that he built and played acoustic guitars, yet the main loves of his life were his 3 dogs: Bentley, Missy and Jenny. They were never just pets, they were his friends, his protectors and his joy.
Preceded by his parents Leon and Pauline, Robert is survived by his siblings, Richard Steckley, Cheryl Steckley and Pamela Girrens; and by Bentley, Missy and Jenny.
A visitation for Robert will be from 9AM - 10 AM with a funeral service at 10 AM, followed by a committal service all on February 1, 2025 at Resthaven Mortuary and Gardens of Memory, Garden of Christus, 11800 W. HWY 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
