

McHugh, Rose Mary, 89, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015. She was born on April 2, 1925 near Wayne, Kansas to Mike M. and Rosa (Kopsa) Kasl. She graduated from Agenda, Kansas High School and taught at Silverthorne Country School. She Married Kenneth E. McHugh on October 21, 1945 at the farm home of her parents near Wayne, and they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she began a 37 year long career working for Russell Stover Candies. The couple spent most of their married life in Wichita, where she became manager of the Russell Stover Candies’ store downtown. She later was promoted to supervisor of the Midwest retail stores, a position she held until her retirement from Russell Stover. In 1960, she was named Woman of the Year by the 3-D Chapter of American Business Women, having served as president of that organization in 1958-59, vice president in 1957-58, and on numerous chapter committees. Rose Mary and her husband were Wichita State Shockers basketball season ticket holders for many years, co-owned a cabin on Table Rock Lake in Missouri, and traveled extensively. She loved to dance and was a member of the Midwest Polka Club, a business women’s organization, and also the Epworth United Methodist Church in Wichita. She was preceded in death by parents; her husband, Kenny; two brothers, Bill Kasl and Joe Kasl; two sisters, Helen (Kasl) Havel and Lourine (Kasl) Krob. She is survived by numerous nephews and nieces and their families whom she adored.
