Rowena A. Burroughs, 88, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went home to Heaven, on August 4, 2019. She was born May 8, 1931 in Maysville, MO to Leonard and Lucile Denny. In 1954, Rowena graduated from Arkansas State with her Nursing degree. She was the RN that helped establish the first Family Practice in Wichita. Rowena was a member of Country Acres Baptist Church. She was a member of First Bible Baptist Church, now known as Morning Star Community Church. She loved knitting, crocheting, bowling, playing cards and board games, but spending time with her family was the most important. She’s had a very successful career in nursing most notably as a Sedgwick County Nurse, the Director of Nursing at Wesley Medical Center for 15 years, also at the skilled nursing unit at St. Joseph’s. A total of 45 years in her nursing career. Rowena was preceded in death by her infant son, James Keith Burroughs; parents, Leonard W. and Lucile (Porr) Denny; brothers, Paul (Ethel) Denny and Duane (Billie) Denny; sister, Joyce Denny. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Adam James Burroughs; daughters, Gail (Bob) Evans, Becci (Mike) Nash; brothers, George “Darrel” (Betty) Denny, Larry (Jane) Denny; grandchildren, Ashley (Adam) Bengtson, Kimberly Evans, Lana Nash, Crystal Nash; great-grandchildren, Hallie Dillon, Adley Bengtson, Raelynn Bengtson, Brielle Bengtson and Parker Keith. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Wednesday August 7, 2019 at Resthaven Mortuary. Funeral service is 1:00 pm Thursday August 8, 2019 at Country Acres Baptist Church, with committal service to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
