Russell "Darryl" Irion

Darryl was born to Russell and Mildred Irion on February 26th, 1938 in Wichita, KS.

Darryl was raised in Wichita where he attended Wichita North High School graduating in 1956. He was a football player and played trumpet in the marching band.

He attended WSU while working for Boeing Military in Wichita as an Electrical Inspector on the B52 assembly line. He then hired on as an electrical inspector at Lear Jet in 1964 where he spent 13 years where he worked his way up to Manager of Final Assembly, Production Flight Test and Interior Installation. He then became Director of Production at Falcon Jet in Little Rock Arkansas for a short while before finally locating to Table Rock Lake close to Shell Knob Missouri. He then started Tablerock Electric where he worked until his retirement.

He loved riding his Harley and taking his 1965 Corvette to local car shows where he won many awards. He also enjoyed canoeing hiking and taking “Big Red” out on Table Rock Lake. He especially loved his dogs which he took in many rescues over the years.

He was an amazing man, loved by many and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by son, Darryl Lee (Mary) Irion of Goddard; brother, Ronald (Floy) Irion of Wichita; grandsons, Joseph Irion of Kuna ID; Travis (Grace) Irion of Wichita, William and Thomas Irion of Bellevue WA; granddaughter Sarah Irion of Dallas Tx; daughter-in-law Patty Irion of Bellevue, WA; great grandchildren, Anastasia, Isabella, Seraphina, Leo, Lucy and Genevieve; nephew, Doug (Karen) Irion; niece Melissa Peugeot

He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell Irion and Mildred Maness; stepfather, Joe Maness and son, William Irion.

Visitation will be held August 18,2025 at 9 am, with a funeral service to follow at 10:30 am both at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas, 67209

Graveside Service will be held August 21 ,2025 at 10:30 am at the McGuire Cemetery, located south of Shell Knob, MO on Kings River Road. Arrangements made by Shell Knob Funeral Home of Shell Knob, MO.
