

Voshell, Samuel C., 89, retired U.S. Postal Service Supervisor, died October 25, 2015 in Wichita. Sam was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 2, 1926 to William Moore and Mabel Marie (Bosley). He is preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Voshell. Sam is survived by his wife of 69 years, Thelma (Marenchin), and daughter Cheryl (Richard) Zabel, grandchildren Holly (Tom) Stovall of San Angelo, TX, Jennifer Gonzalez of Winter Springs, FL, Adam Zabel of Gallatin, TN, and Katrina Voshell of El Dorado, KS. 10 Great-grandchildren, Nick, Dillon, Sam, Jack, Robert, Chloe, Cailey, Paige, Melody, and Riley. He served in the Army during WWII as a combat medic. Sam began working at 12 years of age weighing potatoes for quarter a day. He held a variety of interesting jobs during his life including bus driver in Washington D.C., bricklayer, and mechanic. During his retirement he served as president of Senior Friends at Wesley Hospital, and he enjoyed building dollhouses. Sam will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Visitation at Lakeview Funeral Home from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday Oct. 28. On Thursday Oct. 29 there will be a visitation from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 600 N. Greenwich, with funeral service starting at 2 p.m. Pastor Dan Myers of Holy Cross will officiate.
