1964-2013
Tuesday, January 21st, 1964 was an outstanding day for the family of Dee and Lou Ann Wager in Abilene, Kansas as they welcomed a beautiful baby girl into their household and proudly announced to the world her name was Sherri Ann.
The hands of time have advanced, the moment has come to recognize the life lived by Sherri Ann (Wager) Kiser who passed from this existence on Thursday, November 14, 2014 peacefully surrounded by her family and friends.
As a child, Sherri wasn't a huge fan of school, with stories still being told of numerous attempts to avoid getting on a bus to keep from leaving her mother's side. Those little obstacles were cleared and Sherri graduated from Abilene High School in 1982 and furthered her education with a degree from Wichita Business College a few years later.
In 1985, Sherri continued her life's journey and married Kenneth D, Kiser Jr. in a ceremony held at the Lutheran Church in Abilene, Kansas. It was there a few weeks earlier that she, Ken and her father Dee were baptized. Their union was blessed with two beautiful daughters, the pride and joy of Sherri's existence; Alyssa Ann in July of 1987 and Jennifer Nicole in February of 1991. Her family expanded further in November of this past year when son-in law Brice Lytle and Alyssa were married in a ceremony in Wichita, Kansas. Another addition to the group was announced much to Sherri's excitement earlier this year when the Lytle's surprised her with a small one piece suit announcing a grandchild would arrive in April of 2014.
Early in the Kiser marriage, Sherri worked as a dental assistant, and later as a typesetter for The Harper Advocate. Sherri loved being a mother to her children and opened her home in Harper to neighbors and friends as she worked as a licensed day care provider for a number of years. Those children quickly turned into a loved and extended family in her eyes. With her own children raised, Sherri agreed to help husband Ken manage the growing newspaper and printing business and the duo worked side by side for almost two decades. Their love for each other grew each day that passed. Their work arrangement served as a source of strength for their marriage as Ken loved to have her trusted judgment available at a moments notice.
During their twenty eight years of marriage, Sherri and Ken enjoyed a number of vacations, the majority of which included their children, with the exception of a 25th Wedding Anniversary trip she and Ken made to the islands of Hawaii. From the island of Kauai in Hawaii to the beautiful white sand beaches in Nassau, Bahamas, Sherri dearly loved life in the tropics even though her time there was always too short! Her other favorite destination with her children was Disney World in Florida where she loved the live shows and the opportunity to exercise her "sport" of shopping.
Sherri Ann was a kind, gentle, giving soul whose emphatic love of life paled only to the love for her family and friends. She loved to stay in touch with those she cared for and kept her cell phone and e-mail accounts extremely active. Sherri loved to follow the advances her daughters were making in both their personal lives and careers and was extremely proud of their accomplishments. She looked forward to meeting her grandchild and for a third college graduation. With her advancement to Heaven, we know she will be thrilled with her new role of guardian angel watching over her most favored accomplishments.
Sherri Ann is survived by her husband, Kenneth D. Kiser Jr. of Harper, Kansas; her daughters Alyssa Ann Lytle and husband Brice of Colwich, KS; Jennifer Nicole Kiser, a graduate student of Washington State University of Pullman, Washington; her parents Dee and Lou Ann Wager of Goddard, KS; two brothers - Kevin K Wager and wife Patty of Cypress, Texas and Jeff Wager and wife Elizabeth of Wichita, KS. nephews Kyle and Austin Wager and nieces Kelsey and Natalie; as well as a multitude of dear friends.
Graveside services for Sherri will be held on Monday, November 18th at 3:00 p.m. at Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita, Kansas. Pastor Andrew Schwarz will officiate.
Memorials for Sherri may be made through Resthaven Mortuary located at 11800 West Kellogg, Wichita, KS 67209 to Harry Hynes Hospice or to Victory in The Valley.
