Shirley I. Malone, 86, wife of Robert E. Malone (deceased 1986) passed away early on January 26, 2024 peacefully in her sleep at her home in Andover, KS. A devout Catholic, Shirley was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Born January 7, 1938 to george and Mildred (Schnoor) Hladik, Shirley was raised as a farm hand who could milk more cows than any of her brothers. She married Robert on april 28, 1955 and was a wonderful Mother to ten children. She was preceded in passing by her husband, parents, daughters; Cynthia Noble, Mary Malone, Teresa Malone, siblings; Gladys Huff, Harold Hladik, Marvin Hladik and Leroy Hladik. Survivors include her children; Lydia (Linn) Stiles, Phillip Malone, Peter Malone, Alan (Carol) Malone, Laura Malone, Sharon (Todd) Sanders, Denise Shah, siblings; Joyce (Clarence) Engles, 20 grandchildren, over 40 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren and extended family. Shirley was always supporting her family and sharing her home for all those in hard times. A steadfast homemaker, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, feeding birds, and gardening. She collected angels, geodes and unique glass figurines in addition to many other items she found especially interesting. Shirley has kept and raised generations of children within her home. Visitors could expect a warm and welcoming hug, and there would always be sweets for the children. Many will cherish the experiences she brought her loved ones. Family gatherings were joyful, filled with food and family and hugs and kisses from grandma Shirley. Shirley will be missed greatly, but, we are comforted knowing she is at peace in God's Kingdom. Visitation and Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 9:30 a.m. with Funeral Mass following at 10:00 a.m. both on Friday February 2, 2024 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 123 N. Andover Rd., Andover, KS 67002. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita, KS.
