Toy Ann Josephs, 48, of Wichita, Kansas, entered eternal rest on September 24, 2025. Born on October 8, 1976, in Kansas City, Kansas, to parents Elzie Goodwin and Frieda Cannon. She and Damion Josephs would get married on September 13, 1997, in McPherson, Kansas, and celebrate a loving 28 years of marriage before her passing.
Valuing education, Toy would earn her bachelor’s in music education from Wichita State University in December 2005. Her favorite job was being a Music Teacher for Kindergarten through 8th grade at the Wichita Public School USD 259 from 2010 through 2017.
Trained in the classical arts, Toy was a mezzo-soprano and her vocal range was angelic. While the stages of Broadway beckoned, Toy chose to lend her voice to the Lord's house through the ministry of singing. As a practicing christian, Toy loved to be on the praise and worship teams at her local fellowship. Toy's favorite scripture was 1st Corinthians, Chapter 7.
Prior to her teaching certification, Toy worked in the hospitality industry as a waitress, the apparel industry as a sales professional at Dillard’s, and the finance industry as a teller at Bank of America.
Toy was a very vibrant and classy person who loved fashion, singing, dancing, music composition, playing word games, and anything in the creative arts. But most importantly, she loved her family and spending time with her children and grandchild.
Preceding Toy in death are her parents. Surviving are her loving husband, Daughter Deborah Josephs, sons Damion Josephs Jr. and Daniel Josephs, grandchild Jayce King Josephs, and siblings John Cannon, Frieda Green, Elzie Goodwin Jr., Ricky Goodwin, David Goodwin, Faith Goodwin, and Anita Goodwin.
A celebration of life service will take place at 2 PM Saturday, October 25th, 2025, at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary located at 201 S. Hydraulic, Wichita, KS 67211. Following will be a reception at said location to gather and share memories.
