

Vernon Lee Bentley, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. He was born November 12, 1952, to Harry Wayne and Laura Mae (Manning) Bentley in Wichita, Kansas.
Vernon graduated from East High School, Wichita, Kansas in 1971. He married Connie Evans in 1972 and they had three beautiful children together; one daughter and two sons. They divorced in 1979. Vernon worked at Boeing and Cessna as an aluminum heat treater and painter for 30+ years, until his retirement in 2007. He was a sports fanatic, playing basketball and softball throughout his life. He loved watching sports, whether it was his kids or his favorite teams. He raced at International Dragway in Wichita, Kansas where he won many trophies. Vernon also raced at 81 Speedway in the cruiser division with his son Wayne. His favorite pastime during his retirement was playing bingo with his daughter Cyndi and socializing with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Laura Bentley; son, Michael Bentley; brother, Gary Bentley; and nephew, Brandon Bentley.
Vernon is survived by his son, Wayne (Veronica) Bentley; daughter, Cyndi Hendricks (Ed); nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four siblings; as well as nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
A small Celebration of Life Service for Vernon will be held Saturday, June 28th, 2025 at Damascus Road Church, 621 N. Derby Avenue, Derby, Kansas 67037, at noon for family.
