Hawkins, Virginia Helen. Virginia (“Ginny”) Hawkins, was 89 when she was called to her eternal rest on January 15, 2017. She was born April 6, 1927 to Ben and Frances Jansen. She was married to Jack Hawkins for 59 years. Virginia and Jack lived most of their married life in Kansas City, Missouri area where they raised 3 children, Shirley, Jerry and Donna. They later retired to Table Rock Lake. They enjoyed spending time with family, fishing and traveling until Jack’s passing in 2007. Virginia was an amazing wife, mother and homemaker. Unknowingly she was a 1960’s trendsetter by working outside the home when her children were young. Although she did not have a formal high school or college education she had develop many talents and skills that put many to shame. She taught herself to type on a borrowed manual typewriter, learned how to organized data using the new invention of key punch machines, learned how to program computers before there were PC’s; sewed her children’s clothes, prom dresses and wedding dresses; decorated birthday, wedding and anniversary cakes (roses had to be prefect); superb gardener -strawberries and rhubarb were a specialty; cared for all the stray animals brought home by her husband and children, -including a worm farm; stayed up late studying her daughter’s accounting books, became a bookkeeper for the family boat business; quilted, and crocheted, her embroidery looked the same on the front as it did on the back; renovated an old house better than HGTV, reupholstered furniture; always had a home cook meal for guests; could build a campfire as well as a boy scout, (maybe better) and cook a great meal over that campfire; volunteered for PTA’s, was a girl scout leader, and most importantly showed everyone that family was always the first thing on her mind every day. Virginia did all this while raising 3 children, keeping up with her husband’s latest business idea and working full time. She was also the BEST Grandma ever with chocolate chip cookies ready to share. Virginia is survived by: 2 daughters and 1 son, Shirley Mills (John Knorr), Jerry Hawkins (Robbie Schappert) Donna Meyer (Timothy); Grand children: Sean Mills (Cristine), Spencer Hawkins (Erin), Grant Hawkins (Kelly), Garrett Hawkins (finance’ Marsela); Joshua H.
