

William C. Westendorf, 86, of Wichita, KS, entered eternal rest December 24, 2024. Born to parents William and Anne Westendorf on December 30, 1937, in Kittanning, PA. After graduating High School in 1955, he joined the Marine Corps.
On June 30, 1959, in Arlington VA, William married the love of his life Carol Ann Mulert and celebrated a loving 59 years together until her death in 2018. They had the same connection of being in the military. Carol was in the Navy and William in the Marines. He retired from the Marines after 30 years served, parted as an E-9 or Mastery Gunnery Sergeant. He had served in the Vietnam War and traveled many places thanks to the military. After retiring he went on to work for Cessna 20 years until retiring from there as well. While at Cessna, he received his BA in Industrial Management at Kansas Newman University.
William had a few hobbies that he wholeheartedly loved, one was model trains and the other was taking his family road tripping. He loved his model trains so much and would create multiple level train setups on the dining and coffee tables.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and loving wife. William is survived by his three children Kim (Paul) McNickle, Larry Westendorf, and Kara Westendorf, Brother Tom Westendorf, Grandchildren Caela (Chris) Foster, Dustin (Leonora) McNickle, and Caleb “Jackie” Westendorf, and several Nieces and Nephews and Great-nieces and nephews.
A visitation will take place Friday, January 10, 2024, from 6 PM to 8 PM at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary located at 201 S. Hydraulic St, Wichita, KS 67211. A celebration of life service will take place Saturday, January 11, 2024, at 10 AM at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary. Burial will follow the service and final resting place will be at Resurrection Cemetery located at 1640 N. Maize Rd, Wichit, KS 67214.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of William C. Westendorf, Retired, USMC MGySGT.
