Wilma Doris (Cook) Vlach was born on May 20, 1933 in Barnes, Kansas. She passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 88. Wilma was the daughter of Seth and Verla (Zeller) Cook and sister to Dale Cook, all of Hanover, Kansas.
After graduating from High School in Hanover in 1951, Wilma attended Business school in Salina, Kansas, after which she went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad Company in Topeka, Kansas. She continued to work there until her marriage on December 27, 1954 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hanover, to William “Bill” Vlach.
Wilma’s marriage to her husband Bill began her life as a military wife. Bill was a career Air Force Officer and together they served the Air Force for over 26 years, frequently moving to 13 different locations, while raising son, Michael David and daughters, Kimberly Ann and Stacey Lynn.
Upon her arrival in Lago Vista in 1988, Wilma became actively involved in playing golf. She regularly played with the “nine hole group”, the mid to high handicap ladies who loved the game and fellowship it brought. Since her home was situated on the first fairway of the course, she spent considerable time watching golfers pass by. In addition to golf, Wilma enjoyed going on ocean cruises and doing other travelling with her husband. She also was a member of St. Mary, Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lago Vista with Bill for over 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Seth and Verla Cook.
Wilma leaves behind to cherish her memory, devoted husband, Bill Vlach; son, Michael (Cindi) Vlach; daughters, Kimberly (Mark) Fox and Stacey Cloud; brother, Dale (LaVonne) Cook; 8 grandchildren, Seth (Kristin) Carr, Michelle Vlach, Matthew (Megan) Vlach, Megan (Steven) Harmon, Danielle Cloud, Samantha (Nick) Moretti, Amanda (Andrew) Fox and Trenton Cloud; 10 great-grandchildren, Brendan Vlach, Hunter Harmon, Graham Carr, Sutton Harmon, Mason Vlach, Halle Carr, Emma Vlach, Logan Moretti, Easton Harmon and Nicholas Fox; two nieces, Deb (George) Stout and Shelley (Dave) Wichman; and one nephew, Alan (Naldy) Cook.
