

John Cross passed away at home in the Villages Florida on May 31st 2024 at the age of 76 after a long illness. John was born August 29, 1947 in Saint Albans VT the son of Waldo and Yvonne Cross. He attended Holy Angels and then BFA, graduating in 1965. After which he enlisted in the Air Force where he was stationed in Orlando FL and Vandenberg CA. In August 1969 he was hired by IBM in Essex Jct. VT, where he worked for 30 years and retired as an Electronics Technician. On June 1st 1974 John married Kathryn J. (Foote). In 1978 John and Kitty designed and built a home in Milton VT where they raised their children. John was a loving and caring father who always encouraged his children. There were many camping and fishing trips. He took an active role in coaching Little League and enjoyed a casual game of cribbage. Summers in Vermont were also spent playing golf with his IBM friends in the Friday group for the coveted "Great One" trophy.
After his retirement in 1999, they moved to The Villages FL to escape the long cold VT Winters. It was then he could endlessly enjoy his favorite pastime of playing golf. He ran two Villages golf groups for over 20 years and was a founding member of The Villages Red Sox club. He attended more Red Sox games at Tropicana Field in Tampa FL, than at Fenway Park. John and Kitty traveled throughout the U.S., and Europe, their favorite being a trip to Scotland to visit their dear friends David and Sheila Taylor who also lived part-time in the Villages.
He is survived by his wife Kitty, his daughter Tamara Michels and partner Steven Royer of VT, and his son Nathan John Cross of VT. His brothers James (Penni) Cross, David (Vicki) Cross, and his sisters Joan Pierce, and Jacqueline Hosack all from Vermont. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many friends. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Mark Cross, and brother-in-law David Pierce.

A celebration of life will be held June 11th at 1:00pm at Dignity Memorial Life Celebration Center 7134 Powell Road Wildwood, FL 34785
An internment will be held later this summer at the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph, VT.
