John Sortal Zeb, Jr., aka Johnny Zeb, 88, of The Villages, FL, passed away on November 26, 2025. Born in Elkhorn, West Virginia on February 27, 1937 to his late parents John S. Zeb Sr., and Mary Rippe.
Johnny graduated from Cradock High School in 1952 in Portsmouth, VA. He then graduated from William and Mary Norfolk (later ODU).
Johnny was captain of the baseball team at both institutions. In 1960, he was signed by the San Francisco Giant organization to play baseball, however, he only played for 1 year due to being drafted to the US Army. Later, he coached and managed fastpitch softball teams.
Johnny is survived by his wife Charlotte Zeb of 62 years of marriage;
Brother, Joseph Zeb (Gaye Nell) of Richmond Virginia; Children, Leslie Henderson (Jay) of Davidson, NC, Susan Robie (Bill) of Round Hill, VA, Bobby Zeb of Wildwood, FL; Grandchildren, Charlotte Henderson and Cody Henderson, Jody Zeb of Carlisle, PA.
Services will be held at a later date in Virginia.
