Phyllis Helen Miller, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, went peacefully to her Lord and Savior on December 10, 2025, at home, at the age of 79. Phyllis was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, to her parents, Michael and Helen Kuchmas, alongside her younger brothers, Dennis (Elaine) of Forked River, NJ, and David (JoAnne) of Manahawkin, NJ. She married the love of her life and childhood sweetheart, Deacon Daniel Miller, in 1966. Together, they shared two beautiful children: Christine (John) McGee of Manahawkin, NJ, and Daniel Miller Jr. of The Villages. One of Phyllis’s greatest joys was being a loving “Mom-Mom” and grandmother to Johnny (Chelsea) McGee of Manahawkin, NJ; Brandon (Kyle) McGee of Waltham, MA; and DaniLyn Miller of Interlachen, FL. She also lovingly embraced her stepchildren through Christine: Melissa (Chris) and their son, Christopher, along with Nicole (Tommy) and their children, Hayden and Colton.
Phyllis graduated from East Orange Catholic High School and attended Kean College. She considered the greatest role of her career to have served as Administrator of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Forked River, NJ. In 2005, Phyllis and Dan were blessed to personally meet Pope John Paul II at the Vatican, a moment she cherished deeply. Phyllis and Dan spent the first 45 years of their marriage in Newark, Manahawkin, and Forked River, NJ, before relocating to The Villages. There, Phyllis embraced life fully—golfing with friends, enjoying many cruises, and singing joyfully in choirs. She was actively involved in both St. Mark and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Churches. Family always came first for Phyllis. She was so much more than a wife, mother, and grandmother—she was a friend, teacher, and guiding presence who showed all who knew her that kindness and love go a long way. She deeply valued her Polish traditions and took great pride in honoring her heritage through faith, family, and cooking traditions, sharing beloved recipes and customs passed down through generations. She will be deeply missed by everyone whose life she touched.
A visitation will be held on January 16th at Dignity Memorial in Wildwood, Florida, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cornerstone Hospice Foundation.
