

Albert Carl Knollmann, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away on June 21, 2015, at the age of 90. Carl was born on July 2, 1924 in Cincinnati, OH, to the late Albert Knollmann and Wilhemina Wieser. He is also preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, Jeanne G. Knollmann; his sisters, Grace Daly and Ruth Keefer.
Carl was a graduate of Xavier University, in Cincinnati and a member of St. Bede Catholic Church in Williamsburg. In his retirement, he enjoyed playing golf.
He was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army. After leaving the military service, he began his long-time career in government civilian service, retiring as a contract negotiator for NASA at Langley Research Center.
Carl leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 17 years, Helen Ameel Knollmann; his sons, Michael G. Knollmann (Heather), Thomas C. Knollmann, Richard F. Knollmann (Kathy); his daughter, Mary Christine Lafferty (Edward); grandchildren, Alex, Tyler and Michaela Knollmann; step-children, Barbara McGinniss (Jim), Susan Darling (Chris), Thomas Ameel (Karen); step-grandchildren, James, Michael, Scott, Andrew, Christy, Kathryn Anne, Emily and Sarah.
The family would like to extend special gratitude to the staff of Morningside Assisted Living of Williamsburg and to the caregivers from Nurturing Hearts.
A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 30th at 11 AM at William and Mary’s Catholic Campus Ministry (CCM) located on the corner of Richmond Rd. and Harrison Ave. in Williamsburg. Interment will follow services at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Carl’s memory to the St. Bede Building Fund, 3686 Ironbound Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23188, or to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1503 Michaels Rd, Richmond, VA 23229, or to a favorite charity of your choice.
