Anne Maxson Hogg, 88, passed away in the afternoon of August 31, 2013 in Williamsburg. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Frederick Hogg in 2009 after celebrating 58 years of marriage. Anne was also predeceased by her parents, Anne and C. R. Maxson of Richmond and her sister, Virginia Guillotte. She leaves behind her two brothers, David Maxson and Cecil R. Maxson, Jr. and his wife, Shirlee, along with many nieces and nephews.
Anne retired with her husband to Williamsburg after a 41 year career at CSX Railroad as an executive secretary. Although having a very busy career, she found time for many friends and family, never missing an opportunity for holiday, birthday or anniversary greetings. During WWII, Anne and her sister Ginny served the USO, entertaining the troops with their singing voices. Although it was not her favorite nickname, she was affectionately known to many people as "Tillie" and it always seemed to fit her high spirit and zest for life. She loved nature, birds and her gardens and yard, and truly knew just about as much as Fred knew concerning horticulture!
A graveside service will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia at her family plot next to her husband and beloved sister, Ginny, on Thursday, September 5th at 11:00 AM. It was her request that expressions of sympathy or remembrance in lieu of flowers be made to a charity of anyone's choice.
The family appreciates everyone's wonderful support during her life and illness. She was so grateful for all the gifts you gave in her journey through life and her travels "going home".
