

He was born August 12, 1924 in NYC; however, he grew up in North Plainfield, NJ. He was a graduate from North Plainfield High, in 1942, and from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1945- doing it in 3 years because of the war. He served in the Army as an instructor of B-29’s. After the war he returned to school to achieve his master’s degree. He worked for mechanical contractors Almiral, then Wolff and Munier, in NYC.
Anthony was active in the Boy Scouts of America; where he served as assistant scoutmaster, scoutmaster, and neighborhood commissioner of North Plainfield. During his participation with the scouts, he earned the Wood Badge and was a member of the Flint and Steel, the honorary scouting society.
He was a master gardener, serving for 5 years as treasurer of the Williamsburg area. For 15 years he also volunteered at the Green House of Colonial Williamsburg.
Anthony had a passion for golf, moving to the Williamsburg area with his wife, to enjoy the many courses at Ford’s Colony.
Anthony enjoyed working in his basement, where he would craft many things, which he gave as gifts to friends and neighbors.
Anthony is survived by his wife of 61 years, Florence; sons, Stephen and his wife, Carolyn, and David.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd., Williamsburg, on Friday, May 29, at 11 AM. Burial will held at a later date. Condolences may be shared online at www.nelsencares.com.
