

Audrey Francis Alden, 93, of Williamsburg, Virginia was born on November 29, 1932, in Danville, Virginia and passed away on January 17, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Alden; father, Walter Henry Francis; and mother, Coreta Gilbert Anglin. She is survived by her daughter, A. Suellen Torregrosa and her spouse, Craig Wendlandt.
Audrey graduated from George Washington High School in Danville, Virginia, and she attended the University of North Carolina Greensboro for two years. After marrying, she and her husband eventually moved to Blacksburg, VA where Audrey worked as a secretary in the Electrical Engineering department while John attended college.
After moving to Williamsburg in 1964, Audrey stayed at home for a number of years taking care of their daughter. Eventually Audrey went to work as a bookkeeper for AJ&L Corporation, owner of multiple hotels and restaurants. After working at AJ&L, she worked at The Peanut Shop, and ultimately retired from The Christmas Mouse. Audrey was a resident of Queen’s Lake for 54 years and served as club treasurer for many years.
Audrey enjoyed crocheting and playing games, especially bridge. For years she had a weekly Monday night bridge game with friends. She also enjoyed traveling through Europe with her husband and eventually her daughter and son-in-law. Watching VA Tech Football and basketball brought her joy. Audrey loved having lunch with friends, spending weekends at the house in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, and Friday nights at Suellen’s house after she and Craig moved to Williamsburg, Virginia.
A visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, Williamsburg, Virginia on January 30, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Interment will take place at the Memorial Garden at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Williamsburg, Virginia.
