Ayanna Eve Coan

Ayanna E. Coan, 25, passed away on March 24, 2024. She was preceded in death by her father, Boyd Coan; her grandmothers, Evalyne Robinson and Fannie Coan; and her aunt, Bernice Coan Lee. She was much beloved by her family and friends and she in turn, loved them dearly and unconditionally. She enjoyed painting and singing. Her voice could often be heard in uplifting song.

She loved laughing and having fun. Her sense of humor often had others laughing and feeling happy. Ayanna attended Lafayette High School and Radford University, where she majored in Psychology. Her choice of major is reflective of how deeply she cared for others.

Ayanna is survived by her mother, Jasmine Wilson; her stepfather, Kelvin Wilson; sisters, Kelli Wilson and Yasmeen Coan; and a whole host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Arrangements are under the care of Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg, VA.

Visitation will be held on April 1, 2024 at Nelsen Funeral Home from 12:00pm to 1:00pm followed by a Celebration of Life service. Burial will take place at Peninsula Memorial Park, 12750 Warwick Blvd, Newport News, VA. All are asked to meet at the back entrance gate on 12791 Nettles Drive, Newport News, VA for guidance to the burial location.
