She was born in Rochester, Pennsylvania on June 26, 1935 and was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Irma Asche; and her two sisters, Lois A. Rush and Elizabeth "Betty" Douglas.
She received a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in nursing, working in various hospitals in the Pittsburgh and Chicago area. Barbara also earned a PHD in Higher Education Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
Barbara was a member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church, where she sang in the church choir. She loved golf and walking her dog, Chip.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Haynes; brother, Charles Asche (Nancy); various nieces and nephews; two best friends, Nancy Roderick of Pennsylvania and Claudette Ross of Colorado; and her dog, Chip.
A service will take place at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Barbara’s memory to Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 500 Jamestown Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23185.
