She was born on April 4th, 1942 in Brownsville, Pennsylvania to Paul Laskody and Frances Bohna Laskody.
Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother and is survived by her husband, Michael; daughter, Kristen (Todd); grandson, Brett Michael (Miranda); and granddaughter, Bridgette Barbara. She is also survived by her brother, John Laskody, and her memory lives on with her nieces Tracy, Deanna, and Amy.
Barbara came from meager beginnings in the small coal mining town of Brownsville, Pennsylvania. She later met Michael “Mickey” Sahady, at a sock hop in Charleroi, Pennsylvania who she married in 1962. She supported him throughout his many business ventures, traveling the world and building life-long friendships as they were a team. Barbara was a welcoming spirit as she opened her heart and home to everyone. She was a motherly figure and known as “Siti” or “Aunt Barb” to many.
Barbara excelled at her hobbies of golf, tennis, skiing, reading, and bowling, but above all, she loved to cook. Barbara took pride in cooking ethnic Lebanese dishes and desserts that she adopted from Mickey’s family for holidays and special occasions. Above all else, whether Barbara was traveling, cooking, or doing any one of her many hobbies, nothing was as enjoyable to her as spending time with her family.
Barbara’s hospitality, style, pure class, humility, and overflowing love for people made a lasting impression on everyone she crossed paths with and she will be deeply missed by many.
A private funeral mass and interment will be held at St. Bede Catholic Church with a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to her Healthcare Providers, Homecare Assistance, Williamsburg Landing, Heartland Hospice, Angie, and Kim for their dedicated care and support with Barbara’s courageous fight with illness.
