Betty Wootton Cutts

Mrs. Betty Wootton Cutts, 76, passed away January 17, 2017 at Hospice House & Support Care of Williamsburg after a lengthy battle with cancer. Betty was a dedicated and tireless volunteer to many organizations throughout her lifetime. She dedicated many hours to organizations and non-profits in the area. She joined the General Federation of Woman’s Club in 1966 and was an active member until the end of her life. She held many leadership roles in the Club and was honored for her 50 years of service in 2016. She was also a member and much loved volunteer of Bruton Parrish Episcopal Church, where she manned the front desk of the administration building and worked in the gift shop.

Betty was also a long-time volunteer of Colonial Williamsburg serving as a Volunteer on Call, the St. George Tucker House and the reception desk in the administration building. She was a former member of the Sentara Community Hospital Auxiliary, the Williamsburg Land Conservancy, Board of Historic Green Spring, Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiques and she served as an appointee to the James City County Historic Commission. Betty remained very active in the community until her most recent illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband William Terry Cutts. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Tanya Cutts Burdette and her husband Mark Burdette of Asheville, NC; Tiffany Cutts Phillips and her husband Stephen Phillips of Williamsburg, VA; her brother, Ronald Wootton of Atlanta, GA as well as other close family in Richmond, VA. A private interment will be held Saturday, January 21st followed by a Celebration of Life at 10:30 a.m. at Bruton Parish Episcopal Church in Williamsburg, VA. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Bruton Parrish Episcopal Church, Hospice House & Support Care of Williamsburg and The Woman’s Club of Williamsburg – GFWC.
