Carol Lynn Ladouceur “Duey” passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. She was born in Washington, D.C., on March 21, 1958, to John and Judy Kaine. Throughout her life, Carol moved often, primarily between New York, Florida, and Virginia. She graduated from Lisbon Central School in 1976.
Years later, Carol resided in Williamsburg, Virginia, for many years until she rekindled a relationship with her high school sweetheart, Paul, in 2011 and moved to Lynn Haven, Florida. There, she began a new chapter with The Compassionate Friends and played a leading role in the design and completion of The Compassionate Friends Children’s Memorial Garden at A.L. Kinsaul Park.
In 2020, Carol returned to Williamsburg, where she spent her time doing the things she loved most—cross-stitching, beekeeping, cooking, baking, and hosting gatherings for her loved ones. Carol was happiest when she was with her grandchildren or spending time with family and friends.
Carol is survived by her husband, Paul; her son, Austin; her daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and Josh (Riley, Joshua, Zoey, and Sammy); her daughter, Rhi; her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Michael (Corinne and Nathan); her daughter and son-in-law, Krissy and Ryan (Allison and Adam); her brother and sister-in-law, Rob and Sue; her brother, Michael; her sister, Jody; her sister and brother-in-law, Terry Sue and Steve; and her sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne and Bill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Judith, and her daughter, Kayla.
A visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, December 20, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188, at 4:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 5:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Bay County chapter of The Compassionate Friends.
