Carol Ann McCartney

Carol attended Baylor University and worked for U.C. San Diego and the Department of Defense before building her life as a homemaker.

She was the very first civilian President of the Officers Wives Club for the US Atlantic Command and Supreme Allied Commander.

A member of St. Bede Williamsburg for several years, Carol had such faith in God.

Since she moved to Holly Hills in 1995, Carol deeply loved living in the neighborhood and all the wonderful people within it. Serving as President of the Core Committee for multiple years, she contributed to many events. She was also author and editor of the Holly Hills Gazette, and produced the 25th Anniversary of Holly Hills video.

A supreme hostess and party coordinator extraordinaire (not to mention natural card shark), Carol enjoyed playing games with friends and family, and had the ability to turn any situation into a betting opportunity. As director and producer of Sand Dollar Productions, she made family videos that never failed to make people cry. She was a world traveler and adorer of all animals, but above all else, she loved her family.

Carol is survived by her husband, Joseph McCartney; sons, Joseph Brian McCartney (Judy McCartney), and William Tall; daughters, Kathleen McCartney, Maureen McCartney, Celeste McCartney (Austin McInerney), and Cynthia Mayer (Thad Vermillion); grandchildren, Erin, Brian, Megan, Michael, John, Kendall, Shaun, Samantha, Kevin, and Quinn; and great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Brayden, Isaac, Oliver, Landon, Juliana, Patrick, and Luke.

The family is planning a graveside service for Friday, May 26, 2023 beginning at 11:00 AM at Cedar Grove Cemetery. As usual, Carol requested a pizza party at the house afterwards. All are welcome to join in celebrating Carol’s life.
