

Chuck was born July 6, 1933 in Larchmont, NY, the son of Walter and Margurite (Baab).
Chuck graduated from Bethel High School in Connecticut where he was active in scouts earning the rank of Eagle. He also won the Bausch and Lomb Science award.
Chuck studied management at the University of Connecticut earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management. He would later further his studies earning a Masters in Business Administration from Syracuse University in 1967.
In 1958, Chuck married Lynne Gratzer on August 22 in Syracuse New York. They had a long and happy marriage (55 years) before Lynne passed away in June of 2014. Chuck is survived by his beloved sister, Barbara Kalthoff and children: Lisa, Chuck Jr. (Sally) and Scott (Jehan) and five grandchildren: Chad, Drew, Michael, Emma and Alex.
After college, Chuck joined the Air Force and rose to the rank of full Colonel. He served as a C-130 Master Navigator in the Vietnam War and continued his military service until retirement in 1982. During his career he worked on many programs including the Space Shuttle, the Airborne Command Post and the C-17. His last major command was as Chief of Staff of Aeronautical Systems Division in Dayton, Ohio. The family also followed his career with assignments in Massachusetts, New York, Virginia and Maryland. He was the proud recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross (twice) and the Air Medal (three times).
Following retirement from the Air Force, Chuck worked as a Business Development Executive with GTE on its mobile subscriber equipment program for the US Army (the forerunner of today’s cell phone technology) until his second retirement in 1992.
1994, after many years as nomads, Chuck and Lynne retired to Williamsburg to finally put down roots. They were long-time residents of Ford’s Colony where they were active in many social clubs. They both loved entertaining and travel. Chuck especially loved his dogs including Benji, Sasha and Dudley.
The Family is grateful for the excellent care Chuck received from the staff at Edgeworth Park during his last years.
