

SERBIN, Clifford Leslie, 90, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2017. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 71 years, June Honeywell Serbin; daughters, Susan Chapman, Williamsburg, VA, and Leslie Thomas (Clark), Midlothian, VA; grandchildren, Michael Chapman, Jr (Christen), Long Beach, CA and Carrie Chapman, Chesapeake, VA; great granddaughter June Chapman, Long Beach, CA.
Clifford was born on June 28, 1927 in Flushing, New York to Alexander and Jennie Serbin. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
He was enlisted in the United States Navy serving on the USS Taluga during WWII. He also served in the Coast Guard Reserves, retiring in 1969 after 20 years. He held various jobs with Civil Service, the latter being with US Customs and IRS in Miami, Florida. After retiring from Civil Service in Miami, he and his wife relocated to Yorktown, Virginia in 1976 and then Williamsburg in 1983.
Clifford cherished his days as a professional baseball pitcher in the late 40’s, traveling to mid-western states and Pennsylvania. His favorite baseball team was the New York Mets. He was an avid Civil War history buff and was in his element living in Virginia.
Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery at a later date and will be private.
