

ALEXANDRIA - David G. Campbell, Jr. passed away on Sunday on March 5, 2017. Campbell was born on September 5, 1937 in Auburn, New York to David and Monicka Campbell. He became a standout athlete and President of the Auburn High School Class of 1955 before attending Dartmouth College, where he earned his BS, MBA, and Masters in Engineering. Campbell served four years in the US Navy as an engineer on the Battleship Miller.
While on shore leave in Boston in 1963, he met a young nurse from Ireland, Yvonne Walsh, whom he married in 1965. Together they shared 52 years of marriage and raised three children David, Tara, and Michael. In 1980, Campbell moved his family west, from Chicago to Portland, and later Seattle to become President and CEO of Beaver Equipment Specialties Company. David and Yvonne retired to Governor's Land in Williamsburg in 2003, where they enjoyed golf, tennis and fishing with grandchildren in the company of family and close friends.
Campbell will be remembered for his quick wit and quiet kindness in the community. In addition to leading fundraisers for Hospice House, he spent years driving the infirmed to medical appointments, repairing the homes of those in need, and tutoring immigrants in English.
He is survived by his wife Yvonne, his daughter Tara, his son Michael, and seven grandchildren.
