Jane Sydney, you were very much in my thoughts as I remembered on 2/17 that it was YOUR birthday.  I have never forgotten that ours were just one day apart.  As I thought of you that Friday, I had no idea of the loss you would suffer a short time later so I have been thinking of you SO MUCH.  I never had the pleasure of meeting Mike but my brother Donald, a retired VA Methodist minister, had met Mike on a number of occasions and always enjoyed being with him.  I am so very saddened by this news but I know that God will be with you, your children and your entire family in the days ahead.  Love and blessings, Barbara Seely

To the Meloy Family,
George and I were privileged to take the Living Fully, Dying Well class that Mike taught at Williamsburg United Methodist Church. Not only was he an excellent teacher but also the epitome of someone who took those lessons seriously. On the personal level, he was a loving husband and father and a faithful son. As a professional, Mike was a caring pastor who was genuinely interested in people and their concerns. As District Superintendent, he was a strong guide and mentor to our daughter as she prepared for the ministry, and he was a comfort to so many people in his role as Minister of Congregational Care. While the position was technically part-time, Mike served  when he was needed, even if he was technically off the clock. 
We admired Mike and we are grateful for the example he set. We extend our sympathy to Jane Sydney and all of you as you grieve his passing.

On behalf of Westhampton UMC, I want to express our sympathy to the Meloy family. Our members have fond memories of Rev. Meloy's pastoral leadership at our church. Our prayers are with you at this time.

Mike hired me as his secretary at Huguenot Road UMC in Richmond in1981.
  It was a great beginning to a long career serving  Huguenot  church and later, VA United Methodist Homes.  Mike was a mentor and friend in those early days. They were fun times, and great memories I shall forever treasure. My deepest sympathy to Jane Sydney, Ashley, Mary Douglas, and their families during this very sad time.

Dear Jane Sydney, My heart aches for your loss. You and Mike shared many special moments with me during your time at Tabernacle Church. I will never forget your love and friendship. I think of you often and remember the good times we shared. You and Mike brought Christ's life to so many people and I will always be thankful to you for being a part of my life. May God grant you peace and strength through this time.  My love to you always.

 As my youth minister at W  esthampton United Methodist church Mike had a profound and positive effect on my life. I will never forget him. He was truly a man of God. My prayers go out to his family and friends. Rest well my friend.

What a delight to have known and served with Mike and Jane Sydney. We treasure the memories, wisdom and fun they shared with us. Blessings to you all.

Ashley and family,

Thoughts and prayers are with you during your time of loss.  So sorry to hear about your dad, but I know you are relieved that he no longer is suffering.  Rev. Meloy was a wonderful man and had served in so many ways during his lifetime.  I remember meeting him when Ashley and I were middle school friends, many years ago!  Keep your wonderful memories alive, and know that we are thinking about you in these days and weeks ahead!  Blessings!
